About Arte Ventosa

Talavera pottery originates from Puebla, Mexico. During the 14th century, the first settlers to the Los Poblanos property are thought to have come from Puebla. Our name comes from these first settlers from Puebla, who are known as “Poblanos”.

Artist Isabelle Collins follows a 400-year-old process of making pottery that is known as Majolica, or Talavera. With aspects and influences ranging from Italian, Spanish, Moroccan, Chinese and Mexican cultures, each tin-glazed piece is completely handmade and can take up to three months to complete, using a technique first introduced in 16th century Spain.
