Silver Squash Blossom Pendant + Silver Beads

Product Description
$ 2,200.00

Santa Fe silversmith Dennis Hogan uses traditional techniques to create this necklace with a Native American heritage. Each 3/8″ wide sterling silver bead is hand forged in two halves, put together and finished with an oxidized brushed patina and handmade hook and eye clasp. A squash blossom pendant hangs from the center. The blossom is topped with a vintage sterling US coin from 1902. The squash blossom symbol is oft-repeated in Native American and Southwestern culture, and has been said to represent many different things to different artisans, but historians agree that the image of the squash blossom is likely to have originated with the pomegranate blossom often represented by the Spanish conquistadors on their horse bridals.
