At Los Poblanos, we are passionate about design and the way it informs everyday experiences. Our sustainability mission means we are dedicated to sourcing products in the contiguous United States. We also love a good connection. Our Executive Director, Matt Rembe, along with Robin Petravic and Cathy Bailey, who are at the helm of Heath Ceramics, were classmates at Syracuse University and have since collaborated on many projects. When Heath decided to offer a flatware line - the first pattern made start to finish in the US in almost a decade at Sherrill Manufacturing - we simply had to bring this classic, sturdy collection to you.
The modern, timeless Muir Collection includes two spoons, two forks and a knife in a design meant to honor American craftsmanship. The pieces feature smooth edges, elegant lines and a sturdy grip, and special attention was taken to ensure each piece had the desired weight.
Like Heath Ceramics, Sherrill Manufacturing, who is the last remaining flatware manufacturer in America, is committed to craft and using original machinery which works with the hand. They follow a 15 to 25 step process that transforms a piece of steel into flatware, and use an internally-built tumbling mechanism which offers a distinct matte finish and brings an industrial, galvanized aesthetic to the pieces.
Each set of flatware comes in packaging designed by the legendary American fon foundry, House Industries, who we're also proud to call friends and longtime collaborators. The iconic silhouettes thoughtfully reflect the design ideals of the flatware inside. With sustainability in mind, each piece is wrapped in paper, replacing the industry-standard plastic sleeves. It's a small detail with a big impact.
