Hand-painted Los Poblanos Tree Ornament
Scoop up this charming, hand-painted wooden tree that features San Ysidro, the patron saint of farmers and laborers. He represents the dignity of hard work, and has been an important figure around the farm since the beginning. In the 1930s, Albert and Ruth Simms commissioned artists and craftsmen to incorporate his image into murals, tiles, ironwork and more at La Quinta. Today, San Ysidro's depiction can be found all over the Los Poblanos property, from product labels to a massive wooden statue. This 2" x 2" tile is signed and dated, and makes a wonderful ornament or wall hanging.
Created by local artist, Jone Hallmark, a passionate designer and longtime partner of the farm. She got her start surrounded by brushes, paints and oodles of paper as a child on her father's studio floor, and is now an accomplished, award-winning artist, known for her lines of decorated papers. Jone continues to be thrilled by simple lines and colorful details. She lives in Santa Fe, NM with her husband, two dogs and two cats.
